It achieves this by stopping the growth of certain types of bacteria.

How to apply Bacitracin:
-Wash your hands with soap and water. Clean the injured area with Soap and water, Dry with a clean towel or gauze.
-Apply a thin layer of the ointment to the injured area.
-discard the unused portion of the packet.
-cover the area with a sterile bandage when finished.
-Wash your hands again.
It is recommended you apply
Bacitracin ointment one to three times per day for best results.
